Community Engagement

We are proud of our local origins and strive to provide support and security to the communities in which we insure. We endeavour to make a difference by giving willingly of ourselves, our time and our resources in chosen community projects and initiatives.

Company Engagement

Community Foundations

Adroit Insurance Group has set up "Named Funds" within local community foundations whereby a percentage of the company's annual profits are invested to grow a capital base, all of which is retained in the local region and the income used to meet the needs of the local community.

Our community support is focused on helping reduce the risks faced by young people in need.  e.g. disadvantaged or special needs.

This is the cause indentified by our employees as most important to them.  Just like our insurance business, we want to deliver peace of mind and protection from adversity when it matters most.

Loaned Executive Program

Each year a staff member from Adroit volunteers to the United Way Geelong Region's Loaned Executive Program.  The program provides the participants with intensive training in order to arm them with the skills to prospect to staff  at a range of Geelong businesses, the benefits of workplace giving. They take the opportunity to thank those already contributing and ask them to review their current pledge and to encourage others to consider commencing workplace giving to United Way.

Child Sponsorship

In 2009 Adroit commenced sponsorship of a disadvantaged student, Mikayla, through The Smith Family.  She is a primary school aged student who enjoys playing in the playground and reading.  Her profile says that when she grows up she would like to work at McDonalds.  Adroit contributes a gift card to Mikayla for her birthday and Christmas and sends general correspondence throughout the year.   Our contribution is used to assist her educational needs e.g. uniforms, excursions, books etc.

    Recognition of Community Engagement

Adroit Geelong was awarded the 2007 Community Business of the Year known as The Bollies. The Bollies seek to foster partnerships between local businesses and community organisations by recognising and rewarding those enterprises making a difference in the community.

    Branch Engagement

In October 2009 Adroit held a Community Investment Strategy Workshop involving a cross-section of staff from all Branches and all levels with the aim of identifying what Adroit would like to stand for in the community and to gain a better understanding of how to get the best business returns on our community engagement and investment.

The workshop was facilitated by Lisa Kingman who is one of Australia’s most respected independent community advisers, who is a strong believer in the fact that for staff engagement to occur, the community needs, causes or social issues that the business elects to align itself with, needs to be a cause of most importance to the majority of staff.

The outcome of the workshop was that our community support will be focused on helping reduce the risks faced by young people in need. e.g. disadvantaged or special needs, this was the cause identified by our employees as the most important to them.
